2018年5月23日にNHKのガッテンで、
「物忘れ＆認知症を予防！“記憶物質”大発見ＳＰ 」というタイトルの番組が放映されました。
甘いものを食べすぎると、体内の血管の血糖値が上昇します。
すると頭より下の体では、インスリンが多量に分泌されます。
しかし脳ではインスリンの作用が低下し
脳細胞では糖分が足りなくなって認知症になるのだという話でした。
この記事では、糖尿病のような慢性の高血糖によって、20年ぐらいかけて
認知症が進行するという話について補足したいと思います。
最近は次のような説明がインターネット上に流布しています。
糖尿病が悪化すると、体から血液脳関門を
通ってインスリンが脳に移行しにくくなります。インスリンの作用も弱くなり、
脳の細胞に糖分が足りなくなってしまいます。
そして認知症が進行するのだという説です。
糖尿病で認知症になる理由の説は他にもありますが、実際に調べてみると、
糖尿病による高血糖で、20年後に19％、認知症になりやすくなったという米国の
研究調査結果もあります。
糖尿病は目・腎臓・神経・心臓など全身の病気の原因となりますが、
認知症の進行も早くするのです。
健康診断では、高血糖の程度を示すHbA1cが高めになっていないか
注意してください。
高血糖による認知症の悪化は予防できます。
